On the 14th of April 2021, NOVA School of Science and Technology opened its “doors” to the biggest demonstration of science and engineering in Portugal, this year in an on-line format due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This initiative consists in presenting all the science, engineering and technology areas within the University allowing, in this way, an excellent opportunity to help students on their choice for different scientific areas upon the entrance in the University.

The EXPO is organized from the collaboration of different departments, research units, students, teachers, researchers with activities and workshops that offer to the students a little bit of a know-how of how it feels to be a scientist.  Due to COVID-19 this year, since the demonstrations were performed on-line, the website was opened for general access https://expo.fct.unl.pt.

The presentation of the CHARM (Cultural Heritage and Responsive Materials) group at NOVA outlined all the different areas that we are involved in, including electrochromism. The demonstration focused on the area of electrochromism, explaining the concept of electrochromism, what is an electrochromic device, how it works, where they can be used and presented several electrochromic devices using different substrates, including the High-Pressured Laminates (HPL-ECD) produced using paper within the DecoChrom project (as can be seen in the pictures below)
