Demonstrators, Pilots & Prototypes

  • “EC foil + Integrated Connectors”
Electrical connectors are integrated monolithically with the EC display, e.g. printed/manufactured on the same substrate possible in multi-layered configuration. Electrical connectors enable the connection of the element to external power source and control. Monolithic EC display with the electric connectors can be used as an insert in injection moulding or HPL process enabling electrical connection inside the moulded display. Reliability and usability of different connectors between the integrated system and external critical components.
  • “Current state EC devices delivery”
Delivery of EC films and devices using available EC materials to early implementation in T2.3, T2.4 and for internal dissemination. YNV, FRAU and COC will produce Monochromatic electrochromic films using their existing EC technologies. Various film sizes (from 10cmX10cm to A3) will be produced using S2S (YNV) and R2R (FRAU, COC) techniques and distributed to design partners.
  • “Smart Running Shoe”
Smart running shoe (Pilot). An electrochromic display will be developed and integrated into smart shoes. The display will be linked to a control system embedded in the shoe and connected wirelessly to other sensors. The display of different data will be explored. Several prototypes will be created and evaluated by members of a running club under real usage conditions.
  • “1st gen prototypes with current EC components”
Qty:4 functional prototypes. A total of 14 functional prototypes will be delivered as D4.1, D4.2 and D4.3
  • “Modular wall panels (Film)”
Modular wall panels including electrochromic displays will be developed and evaluated. The panels will be constructed from wood with electrochromic colour changing element applied as an overlaid plastic film.
  • “Demo components for WP4 #1”
Required critical components for demonstrators are to be produced. In the later phase also integrated (see D3.1-3) systems will be provided. Critical components are backplanes, power unit such as OPVs, sensors (touch, photo, etc.), simple control units such as resistive or capacitive push buttons, and required external silicon circuitry (definition and purchase).”
  • “Toolkit for designers & artists”
A toolkit for designers and artists consisting of all the hardware, software and educational materials needed to experiment with understand the possibilities of electrochromic displays. The toolkit will form the basis for the workshops conducted in WP5.

Documents & Reports

  • “Exploitation and business model framework #1”
1st version. Based on the identification of minimal viable products, the LCC and Cost Benefits Analysis, new business models will be identified that exploit the new possibilities of integrating electrochromic devices with coatings and paints. The delivered exploitation and business models (D5.15-D5.18) will include data on potential markets, distribution routes to markets and expected market figures/turnover after project completion. These exploitation possibilities will be comprehensively comprised in a framework.
  • “Gender inclusion action plan”
This will ensure gender issues are addressed, in line with guidance from the EC
  • “Annual workshop results report #1”
The report will be a summary of the workshops (minimum 4) conducted in the first year with DecoChrom partners and external institutes and companies. It will include the name and background of the participants, as well as the results of the workshops and the feedback for the DecoChrom project continuation.”
  • “Management processes established”
The Project Office, Steering Committee, and the Industry Advisory Board established and reporting practices with each group defined. Internal communications tools and project personnel handbook delivered.
  • “Over moulded EC foil report”
Report on the production parameters and performance of over molded EC-foil. In task 2.4 the industrial injection molding process to produce plastic parts with an integrated EC plastic film will be developed and optimized. Based on existing knowledge several process variables will be studied to maximize the level of integration and final EC performance. The optimum parameters will be documented in the form of a manufacturing manual useful for technology transfer.
  • “Communication strategy report”
The report will contain the projects communication strategy jointly developed by the consortium. We will precisely lay out the target audiences, the key methodologies to approach potential future stakeholders and the appropriate tools and resources to achieve this. The communication strategy will enable the partners to communicate the goals and results of the project in a coherent manner.
  • “Risk management plan (updated incrementally)”

Exhibitions & Dissemination Tools

  • “Exhibition at University of Lapland”
To reach a wide audience we will exhibit the results and prototypes of DecoChrom at a design exhibition, for example, Milan Design Week. A report will be compiled consisting of exhibited materials, impact and newly established relationships.
  • “Website & Dissemination tools”
The project’s website and basic dissemination tools will be online. This will include a variety of social and professional networks (e.g. LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram) as well as a YouTube channel, to communicate project results in a fast and transparent manner to the target audience.
  • “Special interest group established”
The SIGs will be consisting of a multi-disciplinary set of stakeholders that will provide complementing input to the project. For the SIGs we will involve companies, designers and academics that are already in exchange with the consortium members. The deliverable will provide a list of members of the SIGs as well as the planned and conducted activities to engage them.
  • “Data management plan”
